One View of the Depot
Placeholder — illustrative sample, not a real engagement
TL;DR
This is placeholder content — a stand-in until a real anonymised write-up exists. In the sample scenario, a UK logistics business with four depots started every day with an operations lead reading overnight logs by hand, and answered every margin question with a week of spreadsheet work.
We're imagining a data foundation the team can trust, a morning brief that writes itself from the overnight exceptions, and an agent that answers questions from the numbers — showing its working. Every figure here is invented; replace this file before launch.
The work
The constraint
This section is placeholder text. Imagine a fictional logistics business with four depots and one operations lead who started every day reading the overnight logs by hand.
For the purposes of this sample, the invented hurdles were:
- Made-up data sprawl: three systems with three definitions of “on time”.
- Made-up reporting lag: any margin question meant a week of spreadsheet work before anyone could answer it.
- Made-up single point of failure: one person knew where everything was.
What we built
Placeholder narrative. The fictional team is said to have started with the data — one tested definition of each metric — and only then built the two things people asked for: a morning brief that writes itself from overnight exceptions, and an agent that answers questions from the live numbers and shows the query it ran.
Who runs it now
More placeholder prose. In the sample, the operations team owns the brief’s rules and the finance team owns the metric definitions; we’re on call.
None of this reflects real work. Delete this file and write the genuine case study when it is ready.
The impact
Placeholder framing line. In this fictional scenario the operations team got its mornings back and the finance team got its answers the same day.
- 90 minutes back every morning (fictional). Made-up figure. The overnight brief is ready before the stand-up, with the three things that need a human decision at the top.
- Margin questions answered in minutes (fictional). Invented outcome. "Why is the North down?" is answered from the live data with the query shown, instead of a week later from a spreadsheet.
- Run by the ops team (fictional). Entirely fabricated. The rules behind the brief live in the team's own repo; the first new use case shipped without us.
Closing placeholder line. Swap this entire section for real impact data once a project is documented.
